MOUNTAIN BIKING: Kingman Farm

← NH COCHECO RIVER ROCHESTER NH Single Tracks →

Description

The Kingman Farm is owned by UNH and provides an area for agricultural research and also encompasses a NOAA weather station. Around the fields are forests and trails. Start off going past the sign where you parked (I think it says something about a Tree Farm) and go down the dirt road. There are trails off this road, but if you take it to its end, wind along the edges of cornfields and hit a nice trailhead. Once in the woods, there are many trails, singles and doubles. Lots of roots, swampy areas, rolling trails. At the far side of the farm there is a hill with some tough climbs, or a trail that snakes its way up. The farm is off limits to bikes; also in the woods is a house whose owner I've heard will take shots at bikers. Definitely bring bug spray!

Directions

Take Route 9/Silver Street/Lee Road southwest out of Dover, as if going to Durham. After crossing the railroad tracks, the trailhead will be on the right; pull into the little dirt parking lot immediately on the road. If you reach the Kingman farmhouse, you've gone too far.
